What VPS size do you need for WordPress?
A small WordPress site runs on 2 GB of RAM. Add caching, several plugins and steady traffic and 4 GB is more comfortable. On our plans that is the $14.99 Basic plan or the $24.99 Standard plan.

Sizing by site type
Start here and measure after a month.
- Blog or brochure site with a caching plugin: 2 GB
- Business site with a page builder and a dozen plugins: 4 GB
- WooCommerce store: 4 GB, then 8 GB as orders and products grow
- Several WordPress sites on one server: add 1 to 2 GB for each extra site
NVMe storage helps the database
WordPress reads its database on almost every uncached page. Fast storage keeps that quick, which is why every plan here uses NVMe. Media libraries grow, so check how much disk your uploads use before you pick a plan.
What you install
You need a web server such as Nginx, PHP, and MariaDB or MySQL. The WordPress requirements page lists the supported versions, and the Nginx documentation covers the server side.
A page cache cuts load far more than extra RAM does. Turn one on before you upgrade.
When you should not use a VPS for WordPress
If you run one small blog and do not want to patch a server, use managed WordPress hosting. A VPS makes you responsible for updates, security and backups. Follow the first-hour checklist if you go ahead, and compare sizes on the pricing page.
